When I saw the lineup and the admission for this show, I was like, yoooooo mi affi reach. Yes, it was a free show. Big up the organizers and sponsors for that. I feel like (I’m pretty sure) this was a major contributor to the amount of people who came out to jam on a Friday night, along with good promotion. It was a really good turnout.
So, I reached the venue HEXTRA (not a typo) early. Not even mic stand and speaker box did set up yet. I was already nearby so I just decided to make an early move. Plus if you can avoid Friday night traffic on Constant Spring Road, you avoid it.

So, I’m there chatting with some friends, taking in the full moon energy and ting and all of a sudden my 2nd ear pick up a vibes coming from the bar. It was the undeniable sound of trap music. So we gwaan hol’ a vibe to Future and Quavo until the first DJ was ready to select some chune.
BikoInMotion was the opening DJ. There was definitely no mention of pills and lean in his set. He came with some nice reggae/dub/meditation vibes.

Next up was Shantonio Chromatic. He stepped up the energy level. It was a really refreshing set which included music from upcoming young artistes, which basically set the tone for the show. At this point, the crowd started to build. Two of my favourite songs right now got multiple pull ups so I was happy and ready for the show. Toast by Koffee & One Away by Jane Macgizmo.

First up on stage was Courtni. She came through and bless up the place with a pretty short and spicy set. She did two original songs and some covers. She literally blessed us with her cover of ‘Road To Zion‘ by Damian Marley feat. Nas. It was beautiful. Really nice vibe to get the show on the road.

Next up was the ever energetic and eclectic, Blvk H3ro. His set was filled with energy, emotion and freestyles. It is always a good vibe when H3ro perfoms with his band. Speaking of a dope band and set, next up was Jaz Elise.

Jaz Elise was definitely the standout performer for me. She really owned the stage. From start to finish she basically drape up the crowd and seh “Unnu a guh give me unnu undivided attention tonight.” From mi see the drummer step out with a drum machine, I was like, “mhm a it dis.” JLL added his outer space touch to the performance with a live Dub mix of her recently released song, ‘For You’. Mad vibessss.

Now it was time for a little Dancehall vibe with Kalex. It was my first time seeing him perform live and it was worth it. He definitely had his fans in the crowd and gave them what they wanted and more. He called on Projexx and Artikal to join him and let’s just say di place did bun up.

Closing the show was the organizer for the event. The G, Giark. If you’ve never seen him perform live, you neeeeeeed to. Trust me, it is even better than the studio recordings.
All in all it was a great night filled with young artistes who are on the right track to cement their name in Jamaica and even globally.
