In recent years, there has been an emergence of young, eclectic artistes within the Jamaican musical space. Artistes such as Runkus, Royal Blu, Blvk H3ro and Jane Macgizmo come to mind. These are artistes who aren’t afraid to divert from the traditional Jamaican sound. They include elements of different genres from around the world in their music, while not straying too far from their Jamaican roots. Another artiste presenting a very unique sound and style of delivery is Giark. I believe Giark deserves to be included in this conversation as well.
Being the son of legendary music producer, Bobby Digital, Giark has inherited his father’s passion for quality music production. From a younger age, he has known that he wanted to carve out a name for himself. With releases such as ‘I’ve Been There’, ‘Kingsun’ and his latest single ‘So Nice’ he is on the right track.
Giark describes the song as being:
“centered on what people deal with on a regular basis where being “nice” to someone can sometimes be unwelcoming if the person you fall for doesn’t feel the same way.”
Today we present to you the music video for the relatable love song.
Directed by Fernando F. Hevia and mostly shot on location at UWI, Mona, Jamaica. The video sees Giark fully caught up with the ‘girl of his dreams’ only to come to the realization that his dream wasn’t reality. The inclusion of animation in the video is a pretty dope touch, which just brings together an overall well executed production. Watch the music video below:
