This time last year, Sylvan LaCue was gearing up to release his sophomore album, Apologies In Advance. The monumental project went on to have a significant impact throughout the entire year, touching the lives of many and inspiring creatives around the world with fresh visuals, must-have merchandise and a poignant short film. By autumn, the WiseUp lyricist and entrepreneur found himself on the road once again with his first headlining tour. Having toured with Logic and Saba, Sylvan is no stranger to the stage and has honed his craft to become a masterful yet intimate entertainer.
What stands out most in all of his endeavours, however, is the strong relationship between the artiste and both his team and his fans. This is captured beautifully in the new visuals for “Love & Sacrifice”, the latest and perhaps last single from the timeless album. Jonathan Benavente delivers a powerful narrative of hard work, dedication and the joys of tour life. The director & WiseUp co-founder — who also managed the tour — captured all aspects of the journey from the performances and meet & greets, to the tour bus and behind-the-stage camaraderie. In addition to plenty of appearances with fans (appropriately known as “Wise Ones”), there are cameos from fellow musicians Khary, TreaZon, who opened for the tour, and special guests Michael Christmas, Xavier Omär and Saba, just to name a few. This is all mixed with Benavente’s trademark style of juxtaposing Sylvan’s raw passion and energy against serene and gorgeous landscapes.
“That grind, it just increases. It goes up another level. It doesn’t stay where it’s at, you know. There’s no… trying to get heard. It’s like, alright. You’ve got people’s attention, so what do you want to do with it? It’s very beautiful. It’s like every emotion combined.”– Sylvan LaCue
Whether you’re a fan, muse or musician yourself, you are sure to get a dose of inspiration. If there’s one thing to take away from both the visual and album, it’s this: All that love and sacrifice you put into your craft comes with a great return on investment. Promise. Stay Wise.
